Cebra

psychedelic soundscape / Stuttgart

Stuttgart's psychedelic band Cebra weaves dreamy soundscapes with a driving lo-fi groove. On stage, the quintet masters tightly arranged songs as well as spontaneous improvisation. Warm beats (Niko Lazarakopoulos/Ma Cherie for painting, Trikorder 23), analog synthesizer sounds (Christoph Szeteli/Jolly Japlin) and an experimental string section (Klemens Rack/Jolly Japlin, Dave Scherer and Micha Herm/Ascona) characterize the organic sound, which, according to the Stuttgarter Zeitung, is reminiscent of the 60s without becoming too nostalgic.

Cebra was founded in 2012 by Christoph Szeteli and Klemens Rack. Five years in the making, the debut album's 12 songs are a metaphorical journey from north to south, from cold climates to warmer ones. "Voyage" was first released on cassette in 2016. The latest vinyl LP, "Beach," will be released in January 2024 and captures the live qualities of the band, now a quintet, in over 40 minutes of playing time.
