Jules Maxwell (Dead Can Dance)

Jules Maxwell is right now promoting his songs and music in 6 intimate venues around Germany.The shows will be fun, theatrical and eclectic, featuring films and stories and the world premiere of a new collection of modern day work songs which Jules has been working on for the past year.

Jules Maxwell is a songwriter and composer, best known for his work with Dead Can Dance, Foy Vance and the 1998 Oscar-nominated short film 'Dance Lexie Dance'.His album Burn with Lisa Gerrard was released in May 2021. He has written songs for Le Mystère des Voix Bulgares and Foy Vance and his 2019 Opera The Lost Thing was presented at the Royal Opera House in London. He composes regularly for Shakespeare's Globe and the National Theatre.

Jules Maxwell ’s instrumental piano albums Nocturnes and Cycles were released by Berlin based label Ghost Palace in 2022.Since 2012 he has toured the world as a member of the Australian band Dead Can Dance and released two albums with the singer Lisa Gerrard - Burn (2021) and One Night in Porto (2023).He and Gerrard contributed 4 songs to the album Boocheemish by the legendary Le Mystère des Voix Bulgares. His forthcoming album Terra Mãe is a collaboration with the Portuguese fado singer Lina_.Jules has also worked with artists such as Foy Vance and Duke Special, choreographers Wayne McGregor, Cathy Marston and Charlotte Vincent and theatre directors Deborah Warner, Matthew Dunster and Jonathan Munby.
